Thriving Kids is beginning to roll out, but what does it actually mean for children currently supported by the NDIS, and their families?
Nicole Rogerson, CEO of the Autism Association of Australia, joins abiliTV to break down Thriving Kids, who it is designed to support and how the new system is expected to work.
We ask some of the big questions families want answered: How will “low to moderate” support needs be determined? What happens to children who remain on the NDIS? How will families access support? Will they still have choice over providers? And how do we make sure children don’t fall through the gaps between two systems?
As the rollout begins and further details continue to be worked through, this conversation looks at what families know so far and the questions that still need answers.
We also meet Voice at the Table, an organisation helping people with intellectual disability and acquired brain injury build the skills and confidence to speak up, know their rights and have a genuine say in the decisions that affect them.
Plus, autistic singer-songwriter Emma Tomlinson joins us in the studio after performing the national anthem at the State of Origin decider. She reveals the even bigger stage she has her sights set on before performing live for abiliTV.
