Seahorse Victoria – Makeup, Training, Lawyer, Transformation – Peta-Gai McLaughlin

After all her experiences, Peta-Gai McLaughlin says life is good, and depending upon how you reframe it, how you move on, the lessons you learn, and the difference that you make in the world as a result; that is what is important.

Peta-Gai shares her remarkable journey, from a traumatic childhood to becoming a successful entrepreneur and founder of Iridis Cosmetics. Growing up in a challenging environment marked by family violence, Peta-Gai found solace and inspiration in her mother, a florist who taught her the values of resilience and creativity.

Despite the difficulties she faced, Peta-Gai pursued her dreams, initially aiming to become a lawyer to advocate for social justice. After completing her law degree and spending 17 years in the legal field, she discovered her passion for makeup, which had been a side hustle throughout her career. This passion led her to establish Iridis Cosmetics, a brand dedicated to empowering women through makeup education and inclusivity.

The name ‘Iridis,’ meaning rainbow in Latin, reflects her commitment to diversity. Peta-Gai’s work has also extended to the trans community, where she provides makeup services that celebrate individual identities.

Her story is a testament to the power of transformation, resilience, and the importance of embracing one’s true self.
