Reconnecting Afghan Roots is a four-episode short documentary series that uncovers the remarkable story of the Afghan Cameleers who helped shape Australia’s outback and explores the lasting legacy they left behind. Through the journeys of young Adelaide-based Afghan/aboriginal descendants and current young Afghan-Australians, the series reconnects generations with a shared history that has largely been forgotten. As they discover family stories, cultural traditions, food and a deeper sense of identity, they reveal how the past continues to inspire belonging, pride, and unity in modern Australia.
