Katherine, Adelaide River, Humpty Doo & Marrakai

In Episode Nine, Matt pushes further north along the Stuart Highway, leaving the dusty outback behind and entering the lush tropics of the Northern Territory. With serious kilometers to cover, he makes stops in some of the Top End’s most legendary spots.

He starts his journey in Mataranka before heading to Katherine Gorge for a scenic hike, taking in the breathtaking views of this iconic landscape. From there, he continues north to the historic Adelaide River Inn for a true taste of outback hospitality. No approach to Darwin would be complete without a stop at the iconic Boxing Crocodile statue in Humpty Doo, followed by a visit to the legendary Humpty Doo Hotel—because when in the NT, a cold beer at an outback pub is a must.

To top it all off, Matt drops into the Purple Mango Café & Brewery, where he samples some unique tropical brews before gearing up for the final leg of his journey. From stunning hikes to classic NT watering holes, this episode is packed with big characters, big stops, and even bigger adventures!
