Camel races, pig races, cameltinis… you can only get this in the Aussie outback!
After a great night in Birdsville at the pub, we grab brekkie from the famous Birdsville Bakery, a coffee from the local café, and then hit the dirt towards Bedourie for the annual camel races. We camp off-grid at the racecourse and soak up a day of quirky outback fun – from the crazy antics of the Crack Up Sisters, to Jasper’s camel ride and a boys’ foot race where he scores third place! Katie braves a Cameltini cocktail, and we cheer on the camels and pigs as they race across the day. Back at camp, we fire up our new Stratus Outdoors fire pit and cook up homemade pizzas under a golden outback sunset. It’s a weekend we won’t forget! The fun continues back in town with a few nights at the Bedourie Tourist Park, relaxing in the artesian spa and pool, Jasper goes to school, and we wander through town to the historic pub and visitor information centre.
