Moving along in Part 5, this Classic Restos Exclusive proudly brought to you by Shannons, Fletch continues his epic journey tracking west along Route 66 to celebrate the historic 100th anniversary of America’s most iconic highway.
The adventure hits the tarmac at the desolate Texas-New Mexico border in the ghost town of Glenrio, before Fletch pulls into Mrs Russell’s Truck stop to check out an incredible hidden stash of classic cars. Crossing further into New Mexico, it’s the neon-soaked haven of Tucumcari. Here, Fletch uncovers the rich past history of the town, and will take you on an exclusive tour of the world-famous, beautifully preserved Blue Swallow Motel.
Next stop is Santa Rosa, where Fletch takes a refreshing break at the legendary artesian spring known as the Blue Hole, before getting his horsepower fix surrounded by vintage steel at the Route 66 Auto Museum. After a quick, scenic detour through the historic streets of Santa Fe, the journey fires back down the highway to see the classic Albuquerque Diner and a cruise across the historic Rio Puerco Bridge.
As the West truly opens up, the episode captures the breathtaking open landscapes of Arizona’s Painted Desert and the ancient wonders of the Petrified Forest. Fletch then checks in on two iconic roadside lodging legends. The unforgettable concrete tee pees of the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook, and the elegant, restored La Posada Hotel in Winslow, Arizona.
To wrap up this jam-packed episode, Fletch watches the massive BNSF Freight trains thunder right through behind the Hotel under a Moonlit desert sky, before literally standing on the corner of Winslow Arizona, soaking in the timeless music, history, and classic grit that keeps the legend of the Mother Road alive.
