Dr Lowitja O’Donoghue Statue Unveiling

4 minutes
The C44 production team was honoured recently to capture the unveiling of this wonderful statue of Dr Lowitja O’Donoghue statue in Tarntanya Wama (Elder Park) on Kaurna Country, by renowned South Australian artist Robert Hannaford AM, on behalf of the Lowitja O’Donoghue Foundation.
As First Nations peoples around the nation celebrate the theme ’50 Years of Deadly’, everyone at C44 is proud to be part of an event celebrating great First Nations Australians, and they don’t come greater than Dr Lowitja O’Donoghue AC CBE DSG.
The statue is the first of six announced as part of the Aboriginal Statues and Monuments Project, commissioned by the South Australian Government through Kyam Maher MLC and the Attorney-General’s Department, Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation, in partnership with the City of Adelaide and Guildhouse.
Once all six statues and monuments are complete, South Australia will be the only state in the nation to have a centralised precinct that honours and memorialises Aboriginal leaders and changemakers together.
