Blue Honey

The View From Here continues for a sixth season on RTRFM, with 12 monthly instalments featuring some of our favourite local artists in iconic and unexpected locations across WA. The eighth of 12 episodes sees the shoegazey, blissed out sounds of Blue Honey on the banks of the Derbarl Yerrigan at Goolugatup Heathcote in Applecross.

The Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River) cuts through Perth, from Fremantle, through the city and beyond. On the banks of the river sits a former holiday retreat/mental health facility. Now a cultural precinct and picnic spot, Goolugatup Heathcote sits like a beacon above Applecross, looking down on the river towards the city. It’s a perfect place for five-piece Blue Honey to play their infectious and blissful brand of shoegaze.

Featuring Iris Grey (vocals/ guitar), Sarah Curran (guitar/ vocals), Chloe Diener (keys), Isla Barlow (drums) and Isabella Cotter (bass), the year-old band create a wall of sound that fill the bright blue sky. Their perfectly-crafted tunes have soaring guitar parts and pulsating rhythms from the drums and bass. With guitar tones to die for, Blue Honey rip through four tunes in the lush surroundings overlooking the city skyline.
