We spent a full-on week travelling Australia’s east coast with the Channel 7 Sunrise weather crew and NRMA Parks and Resorts – early starts, long drive days, and a lot packed in. Like any real week on the road though, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. We had a big scare between Ocean Beach and Port Macquarie that reminded us just how quickly things can change out here. Moments like that are rare, but they do happen, and it’s a reminder of how important it is to stay switched on when you’re travelling.
From the Central Coast of NSW all the way up to Bundaberg, this episode is a behind the scenes look. We made our way north stopping in some seriously beautiful locations along the way – Ocean Beach, Port Macquarie Breakwall, Yamba (Blue Dolphin Holiday Park and Angourie Resort), Treasure Island on the Gold Coast, and finishing at Turtle Sands at Mon Repos.
That last stop was something really special… watching baby turtle hatchlings emerge from their nest and make their way down to the ocean. It’s one of those moments you don’t forget.
