Movie nerds Alice and Saj discuss, through a contemporary lens, what they call the Rise and Fall of the Hollywood Star.
Talking broadly across all the methods by which content can be viewed in 2025, Saj and Alice highlight how they believe the landscape has significantly changed in recent years, how and by whom new film and series content is being created, how an actor may now have options to enable them to take control of their personal brand, what has abruptly ‘shifted the dial’ positively resulting in significant broadening of content, examples of successful and clever marketing, while including an example of a movie which they suggest was successful once – word of mouth – was set in motion – thereby generating an eager audience; all part of asking whether the “Hollywood Star” does or should still exist, has what we expect of them changed, and are they still part of generating audience for content.
