Bent TV: Amazing People from our Community – Lisa Anderson – Artist, Projection, History, Mythology

30 minutes

Visual artist (Dr) Lisa Anderson shares her inspiring journey and creative process with host David Hunt.

Hailing from Southeast Queensland, Lisa’s rural upbringing near the Amberley Air Force Base, ignited her passion for art and storytelling. With a PhD focused on memory and public art, she has created exhibitions and installations in various prestigious locations worldwide.

Lisa’s work often intertwines themes of history, mythology, and environmental concerns, reflecting her deep connection to the landscapes she explores. She discusses her innovative use of technology in art, including neon installations and AI, to provoke thought about changing perceptions of reality and the environment.

One of her current projects, Girt (bysea): Solstice, aims to highlight the role of folklore in understanding our oceans, portraying mermaids as guardians of the sea, featuring sculptural neon works and projections, emphasizing the significance of our relationship with the ocean.

A historic first for Lisa, was the festivals project called Singing up Stones, which was the first projection onto the Sydney Opera House in 1998.
